Frequently Asked Questions
Psychotherapy and appointments
-
You can see our current fees here.
-
We usually work on a weekly basis, one appointment per week at the same time, on the same day. For some clients, we may discuss with you the option of increasing this.
-
In short, no. In our experience, meeting every two weeks has a disproportionately negative impact on the quality of the work, as well as how long it takes. We are an Integrative psychotherapy service, and a large part of our approach emphasises and relies on the relationship between the psychotherapist and the client. For this to be effective, we have to spend time being in the relationship.
-
The overall aim is to get to know each other. Your therapist will want to have an understanding of how things are for you right now and what it is you want help with. And you will get to experience what it might be like to work with your therapist. The details of this process will vary between individual psychotherapists, but here at Therapy Nottingham we will be sitting down and talking. We do a lot of that.

Payment and Direct Debit
-
For your first appointment with us, we ask you to pay at the time of booking. After that, you will receive an invoice by email following your appointment.
You can also access your appointments and invoices and pay them online at our Client Portal.
-
You can pay online using your card by clicking the ‘Pay Now’ button on your invoice.
You can set up a Direct Debit by following the link in your invoice email. This will allow your future invoices to be paid automatically.
You can pay by bank transfer.
-
Only if you have had an appointment with us or have received an invoice.
-
We will request the Direct Debit payment on the Tuesday following your appointment.
You will then be notified of this by the Direct Debit service (we use Go Cardless), giving you notice for the payment. Usually, this is two working days.
The payment will then leave your account, usually within three working days.
It can therefore take several days until the payment leaves your account.

In order to join the session, you first need to ask your practitioner for your own unique link. It's a good idea to check if you've received any emails or SMS from your clinician which might already include it. The link will look something like this:
https://my.powerdiary.com/clientportal/businessname/telehealth/xxxxx
This link is unique to you, so you can save it on your device and re-use for every session with your practitioner.
-
Usually, when you click the link, it will automatically open in your preferred web browser on the device you are using. If not, you can copy and paste the link in your web browser's URL bar and click Enter to load the link.
-
When your browser successfully loads your telehealth link, you will see a blue 'Join Telehealth Session' button. Click on it to start your session with your clinician.
-
When you click 'Join Telehealth Session', your browser will try to establish a connection with your device's microphone and camera. To make this connection successful, please click
Allow
when your browser asks for your permission.
